Carbohydrates are absolutely essential to anyone in particular athletes and in particular bodybuilders.
Low glycemic carbs are what we need, brown rice, brown pasta, oats, sweet potato etc etc.
What do you guys prefer, any secret tips when prepping your carbs?

Maybe 'non-essential' officially, but in reality they ARE!!! Any person let alone athlete without carbohydrates will CERTAINLY suffer in MANY different ways. This is what I meant, 1.5g of protein per pound of body weight isnt 'essential' officially but to any real bodybuilder in it is! ANd the same for carbs, anyone without a carb source will face some reall issues and we would NEVER endorse that anyone cut them out of a diet even for a short space of time. Whats the point???

Carbohydrates are a useful tool for bodybuilders when administered correctly (nutrient timing) and when used as a nutrient shuttle or glycogen loading great.
We also need to consider the source of the carbs balanced with a comparable protein source.
The effect of simple carbs, particularfy refined sugars on natural GH production suppression and the negative effect on the immune system should not be forgotten.
For to long simple carbs which = high profits for supplement companies should be considered.
Yes carbs are essentail when you use insulin and useful when used well.
Great carbs for breakfast Oats are king, brown rice and if you like white rice in pre training and post training balanced in the correct ratios. After this sweet potato and even the odd white potato boiled or baked great nutrient stimulators.
One very effective program is to use carbs in cycled manner loading every 3-4 days the results can be great.

Low G.I carbohydrates should be present in most bodybuilders diet throughout the entire day, whether dieting or mass gaining in my opinion. This of course is as long as you eat the correct amount. Fast acting carbs are generally only useful for breakfast and after training to spike Insulin levels, dont need them any other time of day.
